A driver can be cited for not wearing their seat belt and for not carrying every child under 17 years of age in a car seat or with a seat belt. Anyone who is at least 15 years old can be cited for not wearing a seat belt. There are no exemptions to seat belt laws. However, there are some legal defenses for postal workers, newspaper deliverers, utility workers, garbage collectors, certain commercial agricultural vehicle operators, or medical reasons with a doctor’s record.Convictions and fines Driving a vehicle without a seat belt.
